Baghdad – WAA
Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed Al-Asadi confirmed today, Thursday, that the student grant will continue during the new academic year.

Al-Asadi said in a statement received by the (INA): “With the advent of the new school year, this occasion is an opportunity to call on families whose children have not enrolled or who have dropped out of school to hasten to return them to school.”
He explained that “the student grant that the government launched earlier came to encourage poor families to send their children back to school,” noting that “the ministry launched a social research campaign to follow up on absent or dropout students, as it will begin withholding the grant from those who are not enrolled in school.”
He added, “It is our moral and legal responsibility to stand with vulnerable families who need support and to provide for their needs,” noting that “the government is determined to combat multidimensional poverty, and it continues to include beneficiary families with other services, starting with the student grant and reaching health insurance.”
He stressed that “the Ministry will honor the top students in the final grades at the end of each academic year. This is an opportunity to encourage our students to work hard and give them gifts and prizes.”
