In recent days, Gagik Tsarukyan has had a number of meetings with a large group of hotel business owners and managers at their request, Tsarukyan’s press spokesperson Iveta Tonoyan reports.

“The agenda of the meetings is the extremely difficult situation of the hotel business in Armenia. The representatives of the sector state that the sector is on the verge of bankruptcy due to the significant losses already incurred and the lack of a visible perspective. Many are under the burden of credit and the lack of income has put them in a desperate situation. Under these conditions, the state does not offer a more or less sensible plan for domestic tourism and some support at the expense of domestic resources.

The alarming indicators of the epidemic in Armenia have turned our country into a closed state for foreign tourists. So far, the prospect of restoring air and land communication is not mentioned. While emphasizing anti-epidemic measures and keeping the security level high, we should still start working on enabling the entry of a certain number of tourists from mid-August, because the work of tourist infrastructure is allowed in the country, and the entry of tourists from the CIS, especially Russia, can significantly revitalize the business involved in the sector. .

Representatives of the sector, PAP chairman G. Tsarukyan was asked to work together on solutions and proposals, to find ways out in these difficult conditions that would at least mitigate the risks.

“I deeply share your concerns, I am aware of the problem quite deeply, although there were some of the concerns you mentioned that were new to me. I am ready to be useful with all my abilities in developing competent proposals and finding solutions. I am ready to turn to specialists and organizations with international reputation for the development of anti-crisis solutions, and to take all the related costs on myself. I only ask for one thing: do not despair, the situation is difficult, but not hopeless,” said Gagik Tsarukyan.

A decision was made to make such meetings regular,” Tonoyan said in the message.
