Representatives of the field of organizing events held a meeting today to discuss and demand the government to liberalize the field of organizing events.

“Today’s meeting expresses the concerns of all those gathered, related to the possible extension of the state of emergency and the preservation of the prohibition of events.

Today, hundreds of entrepreneurs and individuals who are active in the field of organizing events have gathered here. This sector provides about twenty thousand jobs, providing annual turnover of about three hundred million dollars.

Closely related to this industry are many other industries that are ancillary or supplier businesses.

They are agriculture, tourism, hotel and guesthouse complexes, and many other businesses.

I would like to mention all the participants of this field individually. They are:

• music halls

• clubs

• restaurants

• banquet halls

• flower farms

• event maintenance staff

• Chefs

• Waiters

• Wedding salons /dresses, accessories/

• Florist designers

• Hosts

• Singers

• Dance groups

• DJs

• Sound operators

• Photographers and cameramen

• Event management organizations

• Models

• Doormen

• Parking attendants

• Beauty salons

• Hairdressers

• Makeup artists

• Animators

• Buffet services

• Production of cakes

• Travel companies

• Hotels

As you know, from March 2020, our field was closed for the purpose of organizing quarantine events.

We all expressed our readiness to be quarantined, to suffer financial losses, but at any cost to support the state to overcome this scourge afflicting the country.

After the quarantine, the state liberalized almost all spheres, except the holding of events. The operation of all public catering facilities was allowed, except for the restaurant complexes of our sector. The state applied such restrictions that do not reflect the true picture of things and events and, in our opinion, threaten the existence of our multi-thousand-strong sector.

The owners of all restaurant complexes in our sector, gathered here today, assure that they are fully ready to meet the anti-epidemic requirements, including additional requirements that will be applied by the curfew.

Once again I want to emphasize the fact that the industry of twenty thousand people has not been able to earn money for five months because of the existing restrictions.

I want to remind you of the requirements for gatherings in front of the government building of the Republic of Armenia in June and July.

We ask the government of the Republic of Armenia and the representatives of the economic bloc of the government to specifically answer one simple question: when will the economic activity be liberalized and when will the activity in our field be allowed?

Is the government of the Republic of Armenia ready to take care of the damages suffered by our industry and compensate in some way, considering the fact that our activity was banned by the decision of the state.

Is the government of the Republic of Armenia ready to take care of the social security of about twenty thousand workers working in our sector and what specific steps are being taken in this direction?

I would like to emphasize once again that all our demands are non-political. They are only financial and social in nature.

Our main demand, which we are going to present to the government of the Republic of Armenia, is based on the simple fact that the state of emergency declared in the country has limited the activity of our sector completely and the government is obliged to develop programs aimed at supporting the sector.

We remind you that we have started a detailed inventory of the losses suffered by all businesses in the area.

We will inform about our further steps in a separate statement,” the message said.
