A meeting was held with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during which the Kapsi reservoir construction project was discussed.

It was noted that the cost of the project is estimated at 60 million euros and it is planned to be implemented in cooperation with the German KFW Bank. Currently, two options for the construction of the reservoir are under consideration. As a result, the capacity of the Kapsi reservoir will be 60 million cubic meters with a 51-meter long dam.

Within the framework of the project, the construction of the dam and auxiliary structures of the Kapsi reservoir, the re-equipment of the hydrological observation points of the Akhuryan River (from the Arpi lake reservoir to the Akhuryan reservoir), the construction of additional stations and the creation of a centralized data base (SCADA system) are planned. It will be possible to replace the mechanical irrigation of about 2280 hectares of land with gravity irrigation, saving 1.3 million kWh of electricity annually. With the construction of the reservoir, it will be possible to expand the irrigated areas by 7000 hectares in the Tallinn region.

The project is expected to start in 2021 and be completed within 3.5 years.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the implementation of the above-mentioned project and instructed to take into account the issue of planning the energy capacities when implementing it. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the issue of ensuring water demand and effective management of water resources and noted that consistent work should be carried out in these directions.
