India wants to deepen relations with Bangladesh

A delegation led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir held a meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Prannoy Verma.

The meeting was held at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan on Sunday (September 22). Indian Deputy High Commissioner Pravan Badh was also present in the meeting.

In a statement sent to the media about the meeting, Mirza Fakhrul said that the High Commissioner of India came to our office. There was an hour of discussion. We discussed how to deepen and strengthen the relationship with Bangladesh.

Mirza Fakhrul noted that the Indian High Commissioner expressed his hope to further strengthen the India-Bangladesh relationship.

The BNP Secretary General said that India is keen to work on how to bring more health and positivity into this relationship.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the problems that Bangladesh has with India have been highlighted in the meeting. He said, we have highlighted the problem of water.

He said, India has been asked to stop killing on Bangladesh border. The issue of security was discussed in the meeting.

BNP Secretary General said, India has said that they are aware of these problems. How to solve problems in a quick time. The main point of India is that they want to strengthen the relationship with Bangladesh.

India has contacted and talked with the country’s interim government after the change in the political landscape of Bangladesh. Mirza Fakhrul also commented that India wants to strengthen relations with BNP as a political party.

Apart from the Secretary General, the BNP delegation was also attended by Salahuddin Ahmed, the member of the standing committee of the party, Vice Chairman Nitai Roy Chowdhury, BNP leader Shama Obaid and many others.
