The new month brings with it some changes. Among other things, the clock is turned again. There is also an important innovation for car owners. An overview.
In October 2024 there will be some important changes in Germany again. This particularly affects drivers, learner drivers and Bafög recipients. In addition, there is an important birthday coming up to which all citizens are invited. We have summarized the most important innovations and events for you.
From October 1, 2024, cars in winter weather conditions will only be allowed to drive with tires that have the Alpine symbol – a mountain pictogram with a snowflake. The ADAC provides information about this. The previously permitted M+S tires that were manufactured before 2018 will then no longer be permitted. Drivers should therefore check in good time whether their winter tires have the required symbol.
- There is a risk of double fines: Hardly any driver knows this winter tire rule
- Winter tires: This tread depth is mandatory
Anyone who drives in winter road conditions with tires that do not comply with the new regulations must expect severe fines. 60 euros are due for unsuitable tires and even 80 euros for endangering other road users. There is also a point in Flensburg. The ADAC also points out that motor vehicle insurance only pays to a limited extent if an accident occurs due to incorrect winter tires.
The regulation to secure the energy supply via medium-term effective measures (EnSimiMaV) stipulates that all gas heating systems must be subjected to a heating check. For buildings with at least six apartments and gas central heating, hydraulic balancing is also required.
The regulation, which came into force on October 1, 2022 due to the gas supply bottlenecks as a result of the war in Ukraine, is valid until September 30, 2024. From October 1, 2024, it will be replaced by the new regulations of the GEG.
From then on, in apartment buildings with at least six apartments, all older heating systems that use water as a heat carrier must be checked and new heating systems generally hydraulically balanced, regardless of the fuel.
From October 1, 2024, learner drivers must expect new questions in the theoretical driving test. The official questionnaire is revised twice a year, on April 1st and October 1st. The update serves to expand the questionnaire, revise it and adapt it to current legal situations. A total of 57 new or revised questions across all driving license classes have been announced for October 2024.
The aim is to promote learning the content of the rule knowledge instead of just relying on knowledge learned by heart. Regular updates ensure that learner drivers are familiar with the latest traffic rules and situations. These changes are intended to ensure that prospective drivers are better prepared for real traffic situations and that their knowledge is up to date.
As the days get shorter and the evenings get longer, many film and series junkies look forward to the long-awaited season sequels. Many had to wait because the writers’ strike in Hollywood had delayed many productions, including the fifth season of “Stranger Things”.
