The Director General of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Dr. Muwaffaq Abdel-Wahab, affirmed the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ full support for all sports clubs in order to advance their administrative and technical status in a way that serves Iraqi sports. This came during his reception with a member of the Parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee, representative of the Kurdistan region, Jiay Timur.
Abdul Wahab said in a statement received by the (INA): “The Ministry is keen to provide the necessary support to sports clubs, in line with the Ministry’s directions in expanding the activities of those clubs, as well as raising the level of their administrative and technical performance,” noting that “the Ministry stands At the same distance from all clubs, whether in the center or the Kurdistan region, however, the issue of government support for Kurdistan clubs is limited to the clubs that participate in the name of Iraq by contacting the sports federations with us in this regard, as they are administratively subject to the region’s budget.”
During the meeting, the two parties discussed many relevant topics related to building real sports, the most important of which is the legislation of the new Sports Clubs Law, and the conditions and controls in force in the Ministry of Youth and Sports in this regard.
