Within the framework of his working visit to the Republic of Argentina, President Vahagn Khachaturyan visited the “Armenian-Argentine School”.
The educational complex was built in 1954 at the initiative of the Siranush and Poghos Arzumanian Foundation and was handed over to the Argentine government as thanks and gratitude for the help and support shown to Armenians. Argentinian children study in the educational complex.
The President of the Republic was welcomed by the director of the school Soledad Strong and the representative of the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires. In honor of the Armenian President’s visit to the school, the teaching staff and students of the complex prepared an Armenian-Argentine cultural program, which represented the national dance, music and traditions of both countries.
Argentinian schoolchildren presented a number of Armenian folk works, including Komitas’ compositions.
At the end of the impressive program, Vahagn Khachaturyan welcomed the attendees and emphasized that the “Armenian-Argentine School” is a vivid proof of the strong friendship of the Armenian and Argentine peoples.
“Argentina has a special place for us Armenians, with its essence and emotions, with its warm attitude towards Armenians. After the independence of Armenia, this educational cooperation received a new impetus. I am sure that this Armenian-Argentine cooperation will continue in the near future and I hope that our Armenian-Argentine school in Yerevan will present such a beautiful surprise event to our Argentinian friends who will visit Armenia,” said the president.
At the end of the meeting, the president made a note in the guest book of the school.
