RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Suren Papikyan, accompanied by Deputy Minister Kristine Ghalechyan and governors of the regions, followed the construction works of a number of road sections within the scope of his working visit to Kotayk, Lori and Tavush marzes on May 3.

The minister expressed his displeasure with the pace of construction on the section of the M3 interstate highway passing through Spitak city, and addressed the gaps in the work done in this section last year.

“Requirements and approaches have changed, now we live in a different reality. You are given all the opportunities to work and succeed. But quality and responsibility are extremely important in this matter. You cannot continue with old approaches and outdated techniques and expect a quality result,” the minister emphasized and strictly instructed the officials of the sector to monitor the pace of construction and maintain quality on a daily basis and report on the progress.

Next, Minister Papikyan visited the M6 ​​Vanadzor-Alaverdi-Armenian-Georgian border interstate road.
In the Kobair-Alaverdi section of Lot 1, the representatives of the contractor organization “Horizon-95” LLC introduced the progress of the construction works. Rock blasting and road widening works were especially important, which is planned for May 5, according to the builder.

At the construction site of Alaverdi city of Lot 2, the minister watched the already started asphalting works. The minister inquired from the representatives of the contractor organization “AAB Project” about the issues related to the multi-layer leveling of the asphalt, with the drainage system installed in the road section. Suren Papikyan got acquainted with the capabilities of the equipment used by the construction organization, which allows to ensure the quality implementation of the works.

The minister expressed his satisfaction with the pace of construction on the mentioned road section, while urging to resolve the technical problems that appeared in a short period of time to avoid further complications.

During the conversation with Georgios Paraskevopoulos, the head of the JV team of Safez SAS and Hill International, the company implementing the technical supervision of the construction of the mentioned 3 lots regarding the Halghpat-Bagratashen border checkpoint road section, the minister was interested in the problems that arose during the design of the works and the actual construction. In response to the questions, Kristine Ghalechyan, the deputy minister coordinating the field of road construction, stated that in the near future, after the discussion with all the interested parties, clear deadlines and instructions will be given for solving the problems.

During the tour, the minister was also in the Tavush region, in particular to observe the repair and leveling of the 4 km long road section of the border guard Berkaber community and the republican road leading to the Makaravank monastery complex. These roads will be asphalted for the first time and will be put into operation in August-September.
