The final concert of the IV International Composers Competition, held by the National Music and Global Culture Society in New York, took place in the Hall of Chamber and Organ Music.
As Day.Az reports with reference to Trend, the President of the National Music & Global Culture Society is an Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, laureate of international competitions, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Nargiz Aliyarova. This is the first and only international composers’ competition in the history of music in Azerbaijan. The current competition was dedicated to Azerbaijani folk songs. The evening was held within the framework of the XVI International Music Festival named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli.
At the opening, member of the competition jury, secretary of the Azerbaijan Composers Union, Honored Artist Jalal Abbasov spoke about the project.
The laureates of the competition were: Kian Rawai (USA, “Sary Gelin and the Flower of the Steppe Tree” – 1st place, Jeyhun Allahverdiev (Azerbaijan, “Fantasy of Dance”) – 2nd place, Juanjo Villaroya Grau (Spain, “My Beloved’s Garden”) – 3rd place , whose works were presented to the audience.
The concert program featured the choir of the Honored Ensemble of the Azerbaijan State Song and Dance Ensemble named after Fikret Amirov (choirmaster – Naala Baratelia), accompanists Fardin Ilham Mammadzade (piano), Khayyam Mammadov (kamancha), Emin Eminli (tar), Tofik Jabbarov (nagara), soloists – Honored Artists Farida Mammadova (soprano), Vyafa Vezirova (khanende), Aytyan Javadova (piano), Orkhan Alizadeh (khanende), Aytyan Shahbazli (piano), artists of the Cadenza orchestra (artistic director – Turker Gasimzadeh), Muhammadali Pashazadeh (clarinet), Afag Garayeva (piano), Georgy Imanov (cello), Nadir Eyvazov (violin), Ainur Akhedova (violin), Ilgar Rzaev (viola), Asim Khalilov (cello). The guests were also presented with Azerbaijani folk songs, two preludes by Hadjibaba Aliyev, “Shushanyn Daglary” by Khan Shushinsky, “Sary Gelin” arranged for piano by the laureate of the honorary diploma of the competition Rufat Khalilov, Bayati-Shiraz tesnif.
