Morocco participates in Cairo in the 10th meeting of the Regional Consultative Process on Migration

The Kingdom is represented at this meeting by a delegation made up of executives and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, the Directorate of Migration and Border Surveillance reporting to the Minister of the Interior.

Taking part in this meeting are representatives of Arab member countries concerned with migration and refugee issues, as well as international organizations and UN agencies responsible for these two issues.

The participants in the work of this 10th meeting looked at the latest developments in the monitoring and review process of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2018, which intervene in as part of preparations for effective participation of Member States in the 2nd Regional Review Conference, scheduled for July 2024 in Cairo.

The meeting also highlighted the crucial role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in providing services to Palestinian refugees. UNRWA presented the current situation on the ground in the Gaza Strip, the needs and support required under these conditions, as well as the future outlook.

In addition, the meeting reviewed the 2024/2025 action plan of the consultation process and the communiqué relating to World Refugee Day which will be published on June 20, 2024, as well as the document published by the meeting on the second regional conference review of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (PMM), scheduled for next July.
