At the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Vienna as part of the XVI International Music Festival of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, organized by Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Ministry of Culturean evening of classical music took place.

According to Day.Az, at the event the head of the Cultural Center Leyla Gasimova spoke about National Music Day, which is widely celebrated annually in Azerbaijan, and the immortal Azerbaijani composer, musicologist, playwright, educator and public figure Uzeir Hajibeyli, who is directly related to this day. It was noted that according to the Order signed by national leader Heydar Aliyev in 1995, the birthday of the great composer in Azerbaijan is celebrated as National Music Day. It is gratifying that after Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity, Azerbaijani music is heard again in Shusha, the cradle of Azerbaijani music, in the homeland of the great Uzeyir, festivals are held, people return to their native lands. The Azerbaijani people remember with gratitude the bright memory of all their sons who died for the liberation of lands and restoration of the territorial integrity of the Motherland.

During an extensive presentation dedicated to the life and work of Uzeira Gajibeylithe life and creative path of the brilliant composer, his place not only in the history of Azerbaijani but also classical music were presented. During the event, excerpts from the feature film “Arshin Mal Alan” filmed in 1945 based on the famous operetta of the same name by Uzeyir Hajibeyli were shown.

It was noted that this work of the brilliant composer was shown in many countries around the world, and one of these countries is Austria. So, in 2006, this work was presented to lovers of opera in German with the participation of local musicians as part of the Salam Orient festival.

L. Gasimova expressed gratitude for such a successful project to the festival intendant Norbert Ehrlich, who was among the guests, and to the director, composer and conductor Michael Schnack, who staged the operetta in Vienna.

Then, musicians living in Vienna performed works by Azerbaijani composers. Young Azerbaijani musicians living in Austria – Farid Feyzullaev (violin), Daniele de Vecchi (violin), Zhalya Rasulova (piano), Lydia Mashek (cello), Philip Henry (guitar) performed works by Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Fikret Amirov, Kara Garayeva, Arif Melikov, Soltan Hajibeyli and other composers.
