Varanasi: After the video of a woman falling into the Argha during Sparsh Darshan at Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, went viral, action has now started on alleged negligence. Eight policemen, including four sub-inspectors, were suspended in this case on Thursday. Police has given this information. Sparsh Darshan refers to the devotees touching the Shivalinga inside the Argha located in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. According to the police, the incident took place after the Saptarishi Aarti on October 7. Police said that due to the sudden increase in the crowd of devotees, the woman slipped and fell inside the Argha while performing Sparsh Darshan. A video of the incident went viral on social media. According to a statement issued by the police, investigation revealed that four sub-inspectors, one male constable and three female constables posted at the sanctum sanctorum were negligent in their duties. Due to this a crowd gathered and this incident happened.

Commissioner has taken action

According to the statement issued by the police, action will be taken against the suspended policemen. Reports regarding sub-inspectors have been sent to their respective districts. Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal took this matter seriously. The Police Commissioner ordered suspension of eight policemen including four sub-inspectors in this case.

In the order issued by the Commissioner, a report has been sent to the SP of the respective districts for action on suspension of three policemen who had come on duty from another district. This action has been taken on the basis of the investigation report of DCP Security Amit Srivastava.

Revealed in DCP’s investigation report

There is a big revelation in the investigation report of DCP. According to the investigation report, on October 7, due to the negligence of the policemen, a large number of devotees had entered the sanctum sanctorum. Due to the pushing and shoving, two devotees had fallen into the Argha. On the basis of the investigation report, the Police Commissioner has suspended one sub-inspector, one constable and three female constables posted in Varanasi district.

Those suspended include Inspector Suresh Chandra Dwivedi on duty from Bhelupur police station, constable Bhupesh Yadav of Maduadih police station, female constables Vandana Saroj, Preeti and Sunaina. A report has been sent for suspension of Inspector Ramakant Rai, who came on duty from Ballia, constable Ajit Kumar Singh of Azamgarh and constable Durgesh Kumar posted in Ghazipur.
