The United States has a visa for citizens to obtain temporary jobs in that country. Learn how Ecuadorians can apply for the H-2B visa. There is a limited number of visas and an application deadline.

The United States has the H-2B visa that allows foreign citizens to apply for temporary jobs and non-agricultural. The Department of Homeland Security offers, each fiscal year, 60,000 temporary work visas that allow an employer in the United States to hire foreigners in areas related to hospitality, tourism, gardening and others, except agricultural activities.

Temporary visa quotas for Latin America

Of the 60,000 spaces for temporary work visas, 20,000 are destined for seven Latin American countries: Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Haiti.

Interested parties have until September 16, 2024 to apply. Those interested must enter the form on the United States website.

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reported that to apply for this visa:

The United States employment agency must apply for and receive Temporary Employment Certification for H-2B workers.

The employer must present the Form I-129 in the name of the worker.

If the form is approved, workers must apply for the visa.
