Mogali: Ravindra Jadeja won the first Test by an innings and 222 runs in Ashwin’s ‘spin’.
The Sri Lankan team that is coming to India is participating in the two-match Test series. The first Test took place in Mogali. India declared at 574 for 8 in the first innings. At the end of the second day, Sri Lanka scored 108 for 4 in the first innings. Nishanka (26) and Asalanga (1) were unbeaten.

Following the first innings of the second day’s play, Padum Nisanka (61 *) gave the Sri Lankans consolation by crossing the fifty. Asalanga (29) gave a partial hand. Dickwella (2), Suranga Lakmal (0), Embaldenia (0), Vishwa Fernando (0) and Lakiru Kumara (0) cheated. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 174 in the first innings and got a ‘follow-on’. Ravindra Jadeja took 5 wickets for India.
Lakiru Trimanne (0) and Padum Nisanka (6) deceived the Sri Lankans who started the second innings. Captain Timothy Karunaratne (27), Mathews (28), Tananjaya de Silva (30) and Charith Asalanga (20) did not impress much. Dickwella (51), who played in charge, crossed for fifty. Lakmal (0) and Embaldonia (2) were caught in the Jadeja ‘loop’. Lakiru Kumara (4) surrendered to Ashwin.
Sri Lanka were bowled out for 178 in the second innings and lost the innings. For India, Ashwin, Jadeja took 4 wickets each and Shami took 2 wickets. The Indian team took the lead, 1-0. The second Test will be played on March 12-16 in Bangalore.
