On October 13, a solemn event dedicated to the 101st anniversary of Ankara being declared the capital of Turkey.
According to Day.Az, the governor of Ankara addressed the event participants Vasip Shaheenwho spoke about the historical role of the city in the national liberation struggle of the Turkish people.
“A fateful milestone in the history of Ankara was the arrival of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the city on December 27, 1919,” Sahin said, calling Ankara “the cradle of the Republic.”
According to the governor, the modern province of Ankara is a large industrial and technological center consisting of 25 districts.
“Ankara is also the center of education in Turkey. Today, the number of students in the city exceeds 1.5 million people. We are responsible for preserving and passing on the legacy of Ataturk and his associates to future generations,” Sahin noted.
The event participants visited the mausoleum of the founder and first President of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, honoring the memory of all participants in the national liberation struggle.
