In the Fátima sector the engines of the machinery assigned for the first phase of the Western ring road resonate. The initial part of the road, which covers 350 meters of Carrera 26, between streets 19 and 14, will be financed through the compensation for works modality.

“This road will reduce traffic problems and offer a better option for those traveling through our municipality. It is a work that we have been waiting for more than 20 years,” said María Ilbed Santa, mayor of La Ceja.

The Municipal Council of La Ceja del Tambo approved $15.45 billion for physical infrastructure works.

As a complement to the ring road, which will allow heavy cargo or automobile traffic heading to other towns in the territory to be diverted to the periphery, the reactivation of another vital project for the mobility of La Ceja was recently announced, the continuation of the expansion of the road to Rionegro.

“The agreement has already been signed with the ANI to build 2.7 km of dual carriageway between the Yegüerizo roundabout and the María Estévez school, El Yarumo sector. This work will be carried out by Devimed and will be carried out with resources from the surpluses from the payment of tolls,” explained Manuela Bernal Montoya, professional from the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Environment and Habitat of La Ceja.

In the same way, in several points on 19th Street, known as Gutiérrez, progress is being made in the adaptation and expansion of platforms. “It is for the pedestrian comfort of people with visual or motor disabilities. The bridge over the La Pereira ravine, on the road to La Unión, was restored after the collapse of the old structure in July 2023. The works were carried out by Devimed.

After completing the structural replacement, Devimed delivered the 19th Street bridge, over the La Pereira ravine, which connects the municipality of La Ceja with La Unión.

Due to failures, the passage through this point was disabled since July 12, 2023. The rehabilitation of the section was delayed since some inhabitants requested a concept from the Ministry of Culture about the possible heritage value of the bridge.

In replacing the bridge, the consortium that manages the road invested nearly $1.6 billion.
