During this event, organized by the Consulate of the Kingdom of Morocco in Istanbul in partnership with the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) and the Metropolitan Municipality of Istanbul, emphasis was placed on the common cultural and historical place that tea occupies both Morocco and Turkey, as a symbol of the hospitality of both peoples.
During this event, which saw the participation of representatives of foreign consular missions in Istanbul, the private and public sector of the two countries, local civil society institutions and Moroccan, Arab and African communities residing in Turkey, ancestral traditions surrounding Moroccan tea have been highlighted.
Participants were also able to taste authentic Moroccan pastries. In addition, emphasis was placed on the characteristics of this national drink and its preparation method.
This event was also punctuated by the presentation of the history and characteristics of Turkish tea, which is an integral part of Turkish identity. This tea which is closely linked to the history and traditions of this country.
Speaking on this occasion, the Consul General of the Kingdom in Istanbul, El Mehdi Rami, affirmed that tea represents noble social values which are part of the heritage of the Moroccan and Turkish people.
He stressed that this drink is also an intangible heritage which adds to the other components of the rich Moroccan and Turkish cultures, noting the importance of publicizing and preserving the particularities of this heritage in the two countries.
This event was distinguished by spaces dedicated to the presentation of traditional Moroccan outfits, in particular the authentic Moroccan caftan, as well as remarkable exhibitions of Moroccan calligraphy, in addition to musical performances drawing on Moroccan popular heritage.
