Russian Ambassador Denis Alibov said on Saturday that the magnitude of the impact of the current crisis in Ukraine on world relations, including Russia-India relations, could not be imagined.

The Russian ambassador added that although the impact of the Ukraine war was severe on international relations, it was an opportunity for India to take advantage of the situation and strengthen economic ties with Russia as the West refused to cooperate with Russia.
This means that relations between India and Russia can be strengthened when it comes to trade and commerce. Earlier, the Russian ambassador had said that the S-400 missile deal with India would not be affected by the situation in Ukraine.
While the Ukrainian government has been urging Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the situation amid the current war, Russian officials have previously praised the Indian government’s international stance.
The government led by Prime Minister Modi has maintained good relations with Ukraine in the midst of the Russian invasion because India, which has been working closely with both countries, is expelling the Indian people trapped in Ukraine. It is also noteworthy that at the request of Prime Minister Modi, Russia temporarily suspended the offensive for a few hours to help evacuate the Indian people. India has also sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine, which is struggling in the current crisis.
Meanwhile, since the beginning of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Prime Minister Modi has held talks with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zhelensky. India has been doing its part to maintain relations with Russia and Ukraine without severing ties with both countries. Even today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zhelensky.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine began in the last week of February. Since then, many countries have taken a stand against Russia. The European Union and the United States have publicly condemned the move and decided to impose sanctions on Russian companies and banks.
