US arms exports grew by 17% between 2014-2018 and 2019-2023, and three Arab countries were among the top 10 recipients of US arms.
The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute revealed in a report that “the United States’ share of total global arms exports rose from 34% to 42%.” “Significant arms were delivered to 107 countries between 2019 and 2023, more than the second largest exporters combined.”
The report stated, “In the period between 2019 and 2023, the largest share of US arms exports went to Middle Eastern countries (38%).”
According to the report, “This was a much lower percentage than it was in the period between 2014 and 2018 (50%), after an 11% decline in US arms exports to the region between the two periods,” and three Arab countries were “among the top 10 recipients of US weapons.” In the period between 2019 and 2023: Saudi Arabia acquired 15% of US arms exports, Qatar 8.2%, and Kuwait 4.5%.
According to the report, “America is classified as the main supplier of weapons to these Arab countries, namely Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Morocco, the Emirates, and Qatar.”
The United States is the largest exporter of weapons and military equipment in the world.
