“Qatar-Morocco 2024” cultural year: Inauguration of the “Katara” exhibition of Moroccan coins and stamps

The inauguration ceremony was marked in particular by the presence of the Ambassador of Morocco to Qatar, Mohamed Setri, the general director of the Public Foundation for the cultural village “Katara”, Khaled Ben Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, and the director of Qatar Club for stamp and coin enthusiasts, Mr. Hussein Rajab Al-Ismail, as well as several Moroccan, Qatari and Arab personalities from the world of culture, art and media.

The exhibition, which continues until June 15, includes 158 paintings bringing together precious collections of stamps and coins from Morocco, covering various periods in the history of the Kingdom, from the protectorate to the present time.

It also includes a collection of postcards illustrating mosques, minarets, streets and historical monuments of several Moroccan cities.

In a statement to MAP, the general director of the Public Foundation for the “Katara” cultural village indicated that the exhibition testifies to the centuries-old cooperation between Morocco and Qatar, stressing that his foundation devotes several events and weeks to Morocco.

And to add that the organization of this exhibition is part of the renewal of cooperation between the two countries in several fields, notably cultural, knowing that the Public Foundation for the cultural village “Katara” is planning several events in the coming weeks, including the organization of joint exhibitions with Moroccan institutions.

For his part, the director of the Qatar Club for Stamps and Coins Enthusiasts specified that the current exhibition consists of exceptional coins and models, both in terms of content, shapes and colors, inviting visitors from Qatar and elsewhere, particularly those from other Arab countries, to explore these treasures which retrace certain eras of Morocco’s ancestral history.

The “Katara” Cultural Village Foundation in Qatar had chosen Morocco as the guest of honor for the 1st edition of the Katara Prize for Manuscripts and Archaeological Sites 2024, coinciding with the Qatar-Morocco Cultural Year 2024.
