The French Judo Federation (FFJDA) elected its new president on Saturday: he is the outgoing Stéphane Nomis, 53 years old, re-elected quite well for the 2024-2028 Olympics, with 67.48% of the votes.
For this election, the elective general assembly (AGE) had to arbitrate the meeting between the outgoing president’s list and the one led by Frank Opitz, with 32.52% of the votes. This resulted in the election of the FFJDA president and board of directors for the next Olympics.
In accordance with the Sports Law of 2 March 2022 and the statutes of the federation, the club presidents participated directly in the ballot for the first time, joining the club delegates. Voting will take place in a digital consultation between Thursday 17 October, at 8am and this Saturday, at 5pm.
This will be his last term
Nomis was elected president for the first time in November 2020, facing Jean-Luc Rougé, then the outgoing president, with 60% of the vote.
Nomis, which announced before the election that this term would be its last, benefits in particular from the success of the French Judo Olympics and boasts growth of around 200,000 additional licensees during its first term.
The two elite athlete representatives will be elected by CAHN members over the next week. Also elected as teacher representatives were Franck Carillon with 69.61% of the votes and Sarah Nichilo with 75.49% of the votes.
As representatives of the referees and sports commissioners, Olivier Desroses (referee) was elected with 83.08% of the votes and Akila Zouaoui (sports commissioner) with 95.38% of the votes.
