After being defeated during the first two days, Guinea finally launched their CAN 2025 qualifiers with a (4-1) win over Ethiopia, won by a hat-trick from Serhou Guirassy. With a new coach and an efficient scorer, Syli can dream of quality.

Coach or scorer? Finally, we can wonder what Guinea really wanted, having been beaten twice in two days DR Congo (0-1) and the Tanzania (1-2). Results that cost the place Charles Paquille replaced at short notice by former coach Michel Dussuyer. But, Syli had lost these two games without Serhou Guirassy injured or in the recovery phase. This Saturday, October 12, the Borussia Dortmund (Germany) striker was present for the debut of Michel Dessuyer. The combination was winning and explosive to finally send Guinea in these qualifiers for the MAYBE 2025.

Tanzania in the finder

Led by his indefensible attacker, Guinea crushed Ethiopia (4-1) making the difference almost in half. That of Guirassy. The former player from Rennes (France) opened the scoring with a penalty he had taken himself (18th). Twenty minutes later, sent deep by Seydouba Cissé, Guirassy won his duel for the second time against Said Habtamu (38th). Breakout in stoppage time in the first period: serving François Kamano, number 9 Syli scored his third goal of the evening (45+2) before making way for Mohamed Bayo after the hour mark (65th). Meanwhile, Seydouba Cissé added to the score (48th) and Ethiopia reduced the score through Canaan Markneh (53rd).

With this authoritative victory, Guinea can still hope to qualify. If Congolese PD, leaders with nine points in Group H, seem unmanageable, second-placed Tanzania (four points) is the obvious target. Guinea will have to confirm its coach and scorer first on Tuesday for the return match against the inevitably vengeful Ethiopia.
