Grigor Dimitrov shared that he used to suffer from anxiety and panic attacks.

“It would be a lie if I said that I never had such problems. There have been times when I have suffered severely from anxiety and panic attacks, even during a match. I think it helps a lot if you can talk to people about it and share, even if it’s another tennis player. I have always said that we should be more open with each other. I know it’s not easy at all, as tennis is an individual sport and tour life is often brutal, but at the end of the day we’re all human. We are no different from the rest. We just play good tennis, that’s all. I think more and more athletes around the world are gradually starting to express themselves, which is great. I’ve heard several NBA players talk quite openly about mental health. In my opinion, this topic is not discussed enough, especially among men, but it should be. This is not a sign of weakness. Quite the opposite – I think it takes a lot of strength to allow yourself to show that you’re not untouchable,” said our top tennis player in Stockholm.

Today at 16:00 Bulgarian time, Dimitrov plays the final against Tommy Paul (USA).
