Pedro Araújo put the Scalabitans ahead on the scoreboard, but Benny and Guilherme Schettine confirmed Minho’s power and thus the classification for the 4th round of the Portuguese Cup
Moreirense met União Santarém (2-1), in a match in the 3rd round of the Portuguese Cup, which took place this Saturday evening, at the Chã das Padeiras Stadium, in Santarém, and continues in the main national football competition.
The team coached by César Peixoto was better in much of the game, but, strangely enough, it was the team competing in Serie 3 that managed to open the scoring: Pedro Araújo, in the 14th minute, into the area, on the right. , and shot into the back of the net for the goal that Caio Secco saved.
The miners did not feel the contact, they kept up the rhythm and, shortly after, they restored equality. Benny, still outside the box and bent slightly to the left, shot low to make it 1-1.
Soon after the restart, specifically in the 50th minute, Guilherme Schettine, in the heart of the area, transferred the ball from the removal of Gustavo Galil and completed the odd look on the scoreboard.
The Scalabitans still tried to respond to at least get a game, but the game was always under the control of the Minas Gerais team and they no longer experienced defensive woes. Note also that Diogo Brás, in retirement, left União de Santarém in numerical inferiority, as he was sent off after a late tackle on an opponent.
Moreirense used their status as a League team and confirmed the theory of theoretical favorability going into this match, winning and guaranteeing their qualification for the 4th round of the Portuguese Cup.
