“The Secretary of the Interior (Rosa Icela Rodríguez) was in contact… they are in contact and investigations are being carried out,” he said.
During her working tour of Yucatán, President Sheinbaum was questioned about the preliminary information on the priest’s murder, and responded that it will be tomorrow when more information about the case will be released.

“It will be taken care of, it will be in contact with the ecclesiastical authorities,” he stressed in response to questions from the press.
For her part, the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, condemned the murder of the priest, for which she expressed her solidarity with the religious community and promised to address the case.
“We regret the events in which Father Marcelo Pérez Pérez lost his life. Our solidarity with the Catholic community and the commitment of the Government of Mexico that there will be no impunity,” he expressed.
Meanwhile, Father Marcelo Pérez Pérez was parish priest of the Church of Guadalupe in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, and was attacked today, when he was on his way to the temple of Guadalupe, after celebrating a mass in the Cuxtitali neighborhood. .
According to the first reports, the priest was traveling in his vehicle, after officiating a ceremony in Cuxtitali, when two subjects aboard a motorcycle opened fire on Marcelo Pérez Pérez.
