Dublin indie powerhouse Inhaler has unveiled their electrifying new single, ‘Your House’, marking a fresh chapter for the band and fueling excitement for their upcoming third album, ‘Open Wide.’
The track pulsates with anthemic synths reminiscent of BØRNS’s ‘Electric Love’ while a captivating gospel choir elevates the chorus, declaring:
“There ain’t a sharp enough knife to cut me out of your life / I’m going to your house tonight.”
Speaking with NME, vocalist Eli Hewson described the song as “chasing some sort of destructive force in your own life, essentially wanting something that’s not good for you.” He emphasizes that ‘Your House’ represents uncharted territory for the band sonically and musically.
Produced by Kid Harpoon (known for his Grammy-winning work with Harry Styles), ‘Open Wide’ follows last year’s ‘Cuts & Bruises’ and their 2021 debut album ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This.’
In an exclusive interview with NME, the band reveals the album is a “refreshing” third effort, heavily influenced by their time spent in New York City. Hewson, son of U2’s Bono, recalls the adrenaline rush of arriving in the Big Apple, energy that infused their music.
He points out “There’s so much to write about there. You can sit in a park for hours and just watch people and never get bored,” highlighting the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
“Open Wide,” a title inspired by a demo Eli had since 2021, resonates with vulnerability and comfort. Notably, the album marks a significant milestone for Inhaler; according to McMahon, it’s “the first time we actually sound like the band that we want to sound like,” marking a sense of arrival for the group.
‘Open Wide’ is slated for release on February 7, 2025, via Polydor. Catch Inhaler on their remaining 2024 North American tour dates.
