Szent-Györgyi Albert Clinical Center of the University of Szeged Radiology Clinic again this year, organized an awareness-raising campaign during the month of the fight against breast cancer. At the Women’s Diagnostic Department at Leányszállás köz 2/A on Wednesday, October 30, there will be a mammography screening on an extended appointment, between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Mainly those women aged 45 to 65 who have not yet had a mammography screening despite the invitation are expected.
In its statement, the clinic pointed out that, according to statistical data, the number of malignant breast tumors is constantly increasing, but at the same time, the willingness to participate in screening tests is decreasing. With the campaign, I would like to draw the attention of women to the fact that as many people over the age of 45 as possible should use mammography screening, which has been in operation for 22 years, because early tumors can only be screened with this method. Ultrasound and MR examination are not screening procedures, but complementary examinations.
Mammography screening is also available in Szeged
Almost 15,000 mammography screenings and complex diagnostic tests are performed at the Szeged Radiology Clinic every year. In the announcement, it was emphasized that although women between the ages of 45 and 65 are invited as part of the screening program, regular mammography is already recommended between the ages of 40 and 45 and every two years over the age of 65. And between the two screening tests, it is worth doing a self-examination.
In order to avoid crowds and long waits, it is worth making an appointment on one of the following telephone numbers: 06-62/545-400, 545-433, 544-996, by selecting button 2. Those who wish to request an appointment in person can do so on the second floor of Leányszállás köz 2/A, where the tests also take place.
