Marvel Studios Unveils 2025 Disney+ Series Slate
Marvel Studios officially unveiled its full slate of series on Disney+ for 2025 in a new sizzle reel released on Wednesday, featuring first looks at live-action series “Daredevil: Born Again,” “Ironheart,” and “Wonder Man,” along with animated series “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” “Eyes of Wakanda,” and “Marvel Zombies.”
“Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” will kick off on January 29; the animated series will introduce new characters during Peter Parker’s first year as the web-slinger, including Nico Minoru from the Runaways team and Amadeus Cho, a new Hulk in the comics.
On June 24, “Ironheart” — continuing the story of genius inventor Riri Williams, played by Dominique Thorne, first introduced in 2022’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” — will debut after starting production in June 2022. The teaser highlights Riri’s skills with her super suit while introducing the villain, Parker Robbins (aka the Hood), portrayed by Anthony Ramos, who states, “Anyone who’s ever accomplished anything iconic in life has had to do some questionable things to get it done.”
The teaser gave a glimpse of “Eyes of Wakanda,” an animated series detailing the efforts of the Wakandan War Dogs throughout history to recover vibranium artifacts. This four-episode series is set to premiere on August 6.
“Marvel Zombies” will feature many of Marvel’s beloved superheroes, such as Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, and Clint Barton, as part of an undead army. This marks Marvel’s first TV-MA animated offering, scheduled to debut in October 2025.
A standout reveal in the teaser is footage from “Wonder Man,” starring Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams. In the comics, Simon is a business scion who encounters Stark Industries before becoming a superhero. The teaser presents Abdul-Mateen’s Simon auditioning to play Wonder Man, hinting at a comedic exploration of Hollywood and superhero storytelling. The series will debut in December 2025.
Moreover, the studio announced the third and final season of “What If…?” — the animated series that explores alternative storylines through the multiverse — will debut on December 22 this year. Following the pattern of Season 2, a new episode is expected to be released daily from December 22 until the month’s end.
This expansive slate of TV titles arises amidst Disney CEO Bob Iger’s earlier comments suggesting Marvel had over-committed with its Disney+ offerings. During a May earnings call, Iger indicated that Marvel would reduce its output “to probably about two TV series a year.” Instead, Marvel has committed to releasing nine titles in 2025, which closely matches the studio’s output during the pandemic in 2021.
