WHILE, Waspada.co.id – Candidate for Governor of North Sumatra (Cagubsu) number 2, Edy Rahmayadi explained the purpose of asking Bobby Nasution about the Medan Block.
This was conveyed by Edy Rahmayadi to journalists, after the second public debate for the 2024 North Sumatra gubernatorial election, at the Santika Hotel, Medan City, Wednesday (6/11).
“The Medan Block cannot be answered yet, because the matter is not in North Sumatra. “I hope for clarification, don’t let our city, our beloved city, Medan, be taken to North Maluku, that’s the point,” explained Edy.
It was suggested that there was an intention to report Bobby Nasution to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the Medan Block. The former Kostrad Commander admitted that he had no authority, because he was not one of the people harmed in this matter.
“It is not my authority to report it, because I am not the party who was injured. “The people of North Sumatra need clarification, because the name Medan was taken to other areas,” said Edy.
Meanwhile, Candidate for Governor of North Sumatra number 1, Bobby Nasution, revealed that the Medan Block has nothing to do with North Sumatra. If he has any doubts, the son-in-law of the former President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, is ready to report it to law enforcement.
“I have answered. He said earlier that he read it in the media. Asked in debate. “Even though the material is North Sumatra,” said Bobby Nasution to journalists, after the second public debate.
“We want to be Governor of North Sumatra, not somewhere else. “If you are asked like that, if you have any doubts, please report it,” said Bobby. (wool/man/d1)

Interview between Time.news Editor and Political Analyst
Editor: Welcome to Time.news. Today, we have the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Siti Hariani, a political analyst with extensive expertise in Indonesian politics. Dr. Hariani, thank you for joining us.
Dr. Hariani: Thank you for having me. It’s a pleasure to discuss Indonesia’s political landscape, especially with the 2024 elections on the horizon.
Editor: Absolutely, the political climate is buzzing! I’d like to start with the recent public debate involving the candidate for Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi. He made headlines by questioning Bobby Nasution about the Medan Block. What can you tell us about the significance of this exchange?
Dr. Hariani: Edy Rahmayadi’s inquiry about the Medan Block is a strategic move. The Medan Block involves critical issues related to urban development and infrastructure in North Sumatra’s capital. By posing this question, Rahmayadi is highlighting his focus on pressing local concerns, which resonates with citizens who prioritize economic development and quality of life.
Editor: That’s insightful! What do you think is the broader implication of this questioning for the gubernatorial race in North Sumatra?
Dr. Hariani: This exchange reflects the candidates’ strategies to connect with voters on substantive issues. Rahmayadi’s approach may position him as a candidate who is willing to confront opponents on important matters, showcasing leadership capability. In close races, candidates differentiating themselves on key issues such as urban planning and public services can significantly sway public opinion.
Editor: So, would you say this debate is a pivotal moment in the campaign?
Dr. Hariani: It definitely could be. Public debates allow candidates to showcase their policies and visions directly. A well-placed question can gain traction and lead to extensive media coverage, thus influencing undecided voters. If Rahmayadi formulates a compelling narrative around the Medan Block, it could strengthen his position in the polls.
Editor: Fascinating! Shifting gears a bit, what do you think voters in North Sumatra are most concerned about this election season?
Dr. Hariani: From what we’ve observed, voters are keen on infrastructure improvements, economic recovery post-pandemic, and effective governance. There’s also increasing awareness about sustainable development. Candidates need to address these concerns convincingly to engage the electorate.
Editor: With all these factors in play, what advice would you give to candidates like Rahmayadi and Nasution as they navigate the final stretch of their campaigns?
Dr. Hariani: My advice would be to maintain a clear and consistent message. They should articulate how their plans directly benefit the people of North Sumatra. Engaging with community leaders, listening to constituents’ needs, and providing realistic solutions will bolster their campaigns. Authenticity is key in building public trust.
Editor: Wise words indeed. Dr. Hariani, thank you for sharing your valuable insights with us today. We look forward to seeing how this intriguing race unfolds.
Dr. Hariani: Thank you for having me. It will certainly be interesting to follow the developments as we approach the elections!
