US and Iraq want to hold Iran accountable for the shelling of Erbil

by time news

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that the American authorities, along with the Iraqi Prime Minister and the leaders of Kurdistan, condemn the Iranian shelling of Erbil. At the moment, work is underway to hold Iran accountable.

It is specified that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps took responsibility for the rocket attack on Erbil. According to their representatives, during the strike they managed to hit Israeli secret bases located on the territory of Kurdistan.

Local authorities claim that there were no Israeli bases there, and that the rockets hit a residential area where a new US consulate complex is being built.

Sullivan, in turn, said that the apartment building was fired upon without any reason for it.

“We, together with our allies, condemn this encroachment on the sovereignty of Iraq and its Kurdistan region. We support the Iraqi government in holding Iran accountable,” Sullivan said.
