In the Catalan province of Tarragona, 180 liters per square meter are expected, while in Málaga a drop of 120 l/m2 is expected.
On Wednesday 13 November, around 11am, it started raining heavily in the Guadalhorce valley of Malaga and in the upper part of the Axarquía region, and since then the situation has worsened and spread.
There are dozens of videos on social media showing the city of Malaga, its airport, train station and subway network flooded.
The footage also shows Malaga’s main hospital with a foot of water across the entire ground floor and streets and major avenues inundated throughout the city.

In Tarragona, north-eastern Spain, where there is also a red weather alert, authorities have restricted the mobility of commuter trains, roads and highways, causing traffic jams, as rain begins to flood the Catalan province.
Announcement
The latest DANA storm occurred in Castellón, near flood-ravaged Valencia, where roads were closed due to the risk of flooding on Tuesday night. Videos published on X show how the city of Benicarló was flooded as cars drove in half a meter of water.

In Málaga, around 3,000 people from more than a thousand homes were evacuated from the banks of the Guadalhorce river, as a preventative measure, as this is an area already affected by the river’s overflow a few days ago.
On this occasion, residents of the Costa del Sol province received SMS alerts from the authorities warning them of the imminent flood and potential risk.

Supermarket shelves were emptied and some people wrapped their cars in plastic and tied them to lampposts in the hope they wouldn’t be swept away.
I hope that those who went to destroy supermarkets as if it were the end of the world are not the same ones who will want to order food delivered tomorrow.

Everywhere, from Marbella to Torremolinos or from Antequera to Málaga, the city has emergency plans in place as the rain gets heavier and heavier.
Unfortunately, heavy rain is also expected in the Valencia area, already devastated by DANA, which will no doubt hamper the huge recovery and clean-up efforts taking place there, two weeks after the worst flooding in living memory in Spain.
Dozens of Valencian municipalities, including Chiva, one of the worst-hit sites, have suspended classes and closed public gyms due to the threat of further heavy rain. The same happened in Málaga and Tarragona.
