Interview Transcript: Time.news Editor with Fire Safety Expert

Editor: Good afternoon and welcome to Time.news. Today,⁣ we’re discussing a rather alarming incident that occurred at a bar in Pagrati this past Sunday night, where a fire ⁤was sparked by a cake, resulting in the injury⁢ of ⁤six people. Joining ‍us is fire safety expert, Dr. Elena Trivakis. Thank you for being here, Dr.⁢ Trivakis.

Dr.⁣ Trivakis: Thank you for having me. It’s‍ an unfortunate⁢ incident, and I’m glad to shed some light on it.

Editor: To start, can you describe how something as seemingly innocuous as a cake could lead ⁣to a fire?

Dr. Trivakis: Absolutely. We‌ often think of‍ cakes as harmless, but the ingredients and methods used in preparing and presenting them can ⁣pose risks. In this case, it appears that a spark from a candle ⁢or⁤ perhaps ⁣a decorative element‌ might have ignited flammable materials on or around the cake.⁢ This is why it’s crucial to be cautious with open flames ‌in⁤ crowded ‍places.

Editor: That’s a great point. ⁤Was the waiter’s arrest justified?

Dr. Trivakis: While I cannot speak to the specific⁢ legalities ‌of the case, it is essential for authorities to investigate thoroughly. If‌ the waiter⁤ was aware of a potential ‍risk—such as faulty equipment or improper handling of the cake—there could‍ be grounds for responsibility. However, it’s also vital to‍ consider the systemic issues⁢ in the establishment that may ⁢have contributed to the incident.

Editor: Indeed, and it’s worth noting that six people were ‌reportedly slightly ‍injured. In ⁢terms of fire⁤ safety, what measures⁣ should establishments take to prevent such incidents?

Dr. Trivakis: ‍Many measures can be implemented. First, conducting ⁣regular fire safety training for staff is crucial—everyone‍ should ⁢know how to ⁢respond to⁣ emergencies. Additionally, ensuring that any decorative items used in celebrations—like cakes—are ‌flame-resistant or use battery-operated candles instead of real ‌flames can significantly reduce risk.

Editor: That’s really insightful. What should patrons be aware of while dining or celebrating in⁣ bars and restaurants?

Dr. Trivakis: Patrons should always be aware ⁢of ‍their surroundings. Look for fire exits, ‍know where⁤ the fire extinguishers are located, and, ⁤during celebrations, ensure that any decorations‍ or candles‍ are safely‌ positioned⁢ away from flammable items.

Editor: Thank ‍you, Dr. Trivakis,⁣ for your valuable insights. As we’ve seen, preventative measures and awareness can go a‌ long way in ensuring safety in public ⁣spaces. Let’s hope this incident ‌leads to better safety protocols‌ in‍ the future.

Dr. Trivakis: I agree. ⁣It’s an opportunity to learn and ‍improve safety standards across the board.

Editor: Thank you‍ for joining us, and thank you to our viewers for⁤ tuning in. Stay safe‌ and informed.
