In recent years, the movies Fast and furious have changed a lot from the original films in the franchise, despite doing very well at the box office. It seems that the final chapter (?) could bring the series back “to its roots” as Vin Diesel‘s new statements will probably make fans of the franchise happy.
Fast X2 will be the culmination of the popular franchise and essentially the second part of Fast X, even though it was previously known that it could eventually be split into three parts. The story continues, but it truly seems that Fast X Part 2 will go back to real speed car racing and maybe less action.
“Worldwide is telling me we need Fast X2 by March 2026. I have the cast on the other side of my ear saying we need two films for the finale. Then the Fast Five writer sent me this image and said we got to see Dom and Hobbs work out their differences. I just want to get back to street racing and practical tricks… and this beautiful reunion…. Many thanks.”
At the moment we don’t know if it really closes the main chapter of Fast wiht Fast X2, but another movie with Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs is definitely in the works.
Meanwhile, director Chris Morgan has expressed interest in a big screen reunion with Dom and Hobbs. The only thing that is certain is that Universal is not going to leave the franchise just like that and may be preparing other spin-offs.
Fast X: Part 2 is expected to hit theaters in March 2026. In the film we will – apparently - also see The Rock.
