US President Joe Biden has agreed to provide military aid worth $571 million to Taiwan, which is under increasing military pressure from China, according to what the White House announced.
A month before he left the White House, the outgoing president asked his Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, to authorize the shipment of military materials and services to provide aid to Taiwan.
Last September, Biden agreed to provide $567 million in aid, and Washington has always been Taipei’s most important ally and largest arms supplier, angering Beijing, which says Taiwan is part of for its purpose..
Afterwards, Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense thanked the United States for its firm security commitment to Taiwan, without giving further details regarding the additional aid granted..
