It was said in a statement about the presidency of the Riyadh meeting regarding Syria, seen by the (INA), “at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and continuing.” the ministerial meetings hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the city of Aqaba on December 14, 2024 AD, convened today.” In the city of Riyadh, foreign ministers and representatives from the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of France, and the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of Iraq, the Republic of Italy, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the State of Kuwait, the Republic of Lebanon, Sultanate of Oman, State of Qatar, Kingdom of Spain, Syrian Arab Republic, Republic of Turkey, State of the United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom of Great Britain Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, and the Secretary General of the Arab League, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, ie the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria.
He added, “During the meeting, steps were discussed to support the brotherly Syrian people and to provide them with all assistance and support at this important stage in their history, and to help them rebuild Syria as a united, independent Arab state which is safe for all its citizens, with no place for terrorism, and without infringement of its sovereignty or attack on… territorial integrity from any direction.”
He continued, “Attendees also discussed their support for a transitional political process in Syria in which Syrian political and social forces preserve the rights of all Syrians and with the participation of various components of the Syrian people, and work towards bring any challenges or sources of. concerns among the various parties through dialogue and providing support, advice and counsel in a way that respects the independence and sovereignty of Syria.” Bearing in mind that the future of Syria is the business of the Syrians, they affirmed their support for Syria’s choices .the people of Syria and respect their will.”
According to the statement, the attendees expressed “their concern about Israel’s incursion into the buffer zone with Syria and its neighboring sites in Mount Hermon and Quneitra Governorate, stressing the importance of unity, sovereignty and integrity to respect the territory of Syria.”
The Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs said, according to the statement, “The meeting comes to coordinate efforts to support Syria and seek to impose sanctions on it, welcoming the decision of the United States of America to issue General License 24 regarding exemptions related with sanctions on Syria. .”
He called on international parties to end the unilateral and UN sanctions imposed on Syria, and to urgently begin providing all aspects of humanitarian, economic and capacity-building support to the Syrian state, which will create the proper environment to bring Syria back. refugees,” stressing that “the continuation of the sanctions imposed on the former Syrian regime will hinder the ambitions of the Syrian state.” “The Syrian people in achieving development, reconstruction and stability.”
He expressed “the Kingdom’s gratitude to the countries that announced the provision of humanitarian and development aid to the Syrian people,” praising “the positive steps taken by the new Syrian administration, in the field of preserving state institutions, to accept the dialogue with the Syrian parties, their commitment to the fight against terrorism, and the announcement that he made about the beginning of a political process.” It includes the various components of the Syrian people, to ensure the stability of Syria and the preservation of its territorial integrity, and not to threaten the security and stability of the countries of the region.”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs renewed the Kingdom’s condemnation of the invasion of the Zionist entity in the buffer zone with Syria and its neighboring sites in Mount Hermon and Quneitra Governorate, expressing that the Kingdom rejected this invasion as a way of life and an attack violates international law and the disengagement agreement concluded between Syria and Israel in 1974, demanding the immediate withdrawal of the forces.
