At the Competence Center of the National Technology Initiative (NTI) “Digital Materials Science: New Materials and Substances” at the Moscow State Technical University. N.E. Bauman invented a self-healing protective film for smartphones. It allows you to “heal” 95% of scratches when heated, the press service of the NTI Platform reported.

It is clarified that to heal scratches, it is enough to heat a smartphone with a hair dryer to 50-60 degrees. “According to the test results, the maximum degree of recovery of the mechanical properties of the thermoplastic film was 95% within two days. Visually, the surface was restored almost completely,” TASS was told.

The proposed method is effective for damage up to 1.5 millimeters deep, scientists say. Employees of the NTI Platform also said that the price of new films for smartphones will be quite comparable with foreign counterparts.

Similar technologies can be used in the production of televisions, computers and cars, experts from the NTI Platform added.
