Thamarassery: The CPI-Maoist faction has sharply criticized the Silver Line project and called for a strike against the project. It was in Thamarassery Mattikkunnu that posters and pamphlets were widely distributed against the Silver Line project. The posters appeared at the bus stop in and around Mattikunnu. It is learned that the posters were put up by the Maoists who landed at Mattikunnu market last night.
In a post announcing its support for the anti-Silver Line strike committee, it has called for a strike against the Silver Line and the Pinarayi government. Despite protests against the Silver Line project in many parts of Wayanad, this is the first time such a response has been forthcoming from the Maoists.
Thamarassery police and Thunderbolt conducted an inspection at Mattikunnu where the posters appeared. In the post, Pinarayi criticizes the government and the Modi government for destroying agricultural land by handing over Kerala to the K-Rail Company.
The post also expressed protest against inflation. The Maoists have been down in Mattikkunnu several times before, chanting slogans and buying food from homes.
