The Land of the Leopard National Park in Primorsky Krai is celebrating the decade since the beginning of its formation and activity.

According to an MK correspondent, over the years of the park’s existence, the number of Far Eastern leopards has increased – up to 121 adult individuals in 2021, and Amur tigers – more than 40 adult tigers (there are about 1,000 individuals in the world). These animals are listed in the Red Books of Russia and the world.

“The land of the leopard covers an area of ​​269 thousand hectares. It was created in the southwest of Primorsky Krai on April 5, 2012 to save the Far Eastern leopard. In the early 2000s, its wild population in the world was estimated at only 35 animals. The animal was on the brink of extinction.

According to the latest data, in 10 years the number of spotted cats has more than tripled.
