Contractor commits suicide: Karnataka Minister KS Eshwarappa resigns

Bangalore: The accused Karnataka Rural Development Minister KS Eshwarappa has resigned in connection with the suicide of a contractor who allegedly demanded a commission from the Cabinet to change the bills. Police had registered a case against Ishwarappa for inciting suicide. On Friday, Ishwarappa had announced that he would submit his resignation letter to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bomme.

A case has been registered against the minister for inciting suicide in the death of contractor Santosh Patil. The case is based on a reference made to the minister in Santosh Patil’s suicide note. According to the suicide note, the minister demanded 40 per cent commission on the contract amount and put pressure on him. A case has been registered against two aides of the minister on the complaint of Santosh Patil’s brother.
