Amid the severe economic crisis in Sri Lanka, a key meeting with former ministers, chaired by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, was reportedly held at the Presidential Palace in Colombo last night. According to reports, several important resolutions were reached at the meeting.
It is also reported that the new cabinet will be inaugurated soon based on the decisions taken by the meeting. It has been decided that Namal Rajapaksa, Basil Rajapaksa, Samal Rajapaksa and Shashindra Rajapaksa should not accept the responsibilities of the ministry.
Also, the former ministers have informed the Chancellor that they have decided not to accept ministerial responsibilities in order to continue this rule going forward.
President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has stated during the meeting that he will continue in office till the end of his term. He also called on the opposition to form a new government.

However he acknowledged that their numbers were not enough to defeat President Conte’s government.
Finance Minister Ali Sabri will leave Sri Lanka this morning for the initial talks with the International Monetary Fund scheduled for the 19th to the 24th in Washington.
Finance Minister Ali Sabri is said to be chairing the Sri Lankan delegation to the International Monetary Fund.
Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe and Finance Ministry Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena are also members of the panel. They will also leave for the United States today.
According to reports, they will stay in Washington for 5 days to discuss measures to be taken to bring the Sri Lankan economy back to stability.
