Salim Hanna’s victory in the Wera Tools F4 British Championship at Silverstone marks a significant achievement, as the Virtuosi Racing driver showcased his talent in the premier single-seater series.

Dominant Performance at Silverstone

Salim Hanna etched his name in the history books with a commanding lights-to-flag victory in the Wera Tools F4 British Championship certified by FIA. The race took place at Silverstone during the FORMULA 1 QATAR AIRWAYS BRITISH GRAND PRIX 2025, a stage that amplified the magnitude of Hanna’s achievement.

Before a packed house at the Home of British Motor Racing, the Virtuosi Racing driver proved to be the class of the field in the UK’s leading single-seater series. This victory marks the most significant win of his burgeoning career.

Podium Finishers

Joining Hanna on the prestigious podium were Mercedes F1 Junior Ethan Jeff-Hall (Argenti Motorsport) and Red Bull Junior Fionn McLaughlin (Hitech TGR). They secured second and third place, respectively, in a thrilling 25-minute plus one lap race.

Qualifying Highlights

Following Friday’s practice session, drivers geared up for qualifying early Saturday. McLaughlin led the pack, earning his second C1RCUIT Watches Pole Position Award of the year. The Irishman’s best lap time was 2:00.832, setting a new lap record. Tommy Harfield (Chris Dittmann Racing), Martin Molnár (Virtuosi Racing), Hanna, and Thomas Bearman (Hitech TGR) rounded out the top five.

Did you know? Fionn McLaughlin’s pole position lap time of 2:00.832 also set a new lap record at Silverstone.

Race 1 Grid Decided

While McLaughlin secured pole position through qualifying, second-fastest lap times determined the grid for race one. Hanna and Jeff-Hall started on the front row.

Early Race Drama

As the lights went out, Rowan Campbell-Pilling (JHR Developments) made a remarkable move from third. He overtook Jeff-Hall off the line and then executed a stunning late-braking maneuver on Hanna at Brooklands on lap one.

Leading down the Wellington Straight, Campbell-Pilling aimed to create a gap. However, a slight miscalculation through Becketts and into Chapel resulted in a spin, forcing him to retire.

This incident, along with earlier contact that required Ella Lloyd to pit, brought out the Lotus Emira Safety Car to neutralize the race.

Restart and Victory

At the restart, Hanna initially faced intense pressure from Jeff-Hall. Once he fended off the former Ginetta Junior and FIA World Karting champion, Hanna set the fastest lap and began to pull away.

With the win in sight, Hanna maintained his lead, while Jeff-Hall secured his best British F4 result to date. McLaughlin managed to hold off a late charge from Harfield to clinch the final podium spot.

Challenge Cup contender Harfield finished fourth, followed by Bearman and Theo Palmer (Xcel Motorsport), who battled closely throughout the race. Molnár recovered from a slow start to finish seventh.

The top ten was completed by Adam Al Azhari (Rodin Motorsport), Leo Robinson (Hitech TGR), and Yuhao Fu (Xcel Motorsport).

Oleksandr Savinkov (Virtuosi Racing), in his first race of 2025, finished a respectable 12th.

The Wera Tools F4 British Championship certified by FIA’s final race of the FORMULA 1 QATAR AIRWAYS BRITISH GRAND PRIX weekend at Silverstone is scheduled to take place at 08:20 on Sunday.
