Lozère’s New Multi-Professional Health Center Set to Open This Fall
A new, state-of-the-art multi-professional health center in Century, Lozère, is poised to significantly expand access to healthcare for residents, with a phased opening beginning in July 2025. The 1,365 square meter facility, designed by Bonnet & Teissier, represents a substantial investment in the region’s healthcare infrastructure and a commitment to attracting a diverse range of medical professionals.
A Hub for Integrated Healthcare
The health center will be organized into four distinct, yet interconnected, poles of care: a medical analysis laboratory, a practice for doctors and nurses, a physiotherapy department, and a dentistry suite. This integrated approach aims to streamline patient care and foster collaboration among different healthcare disciplines.
Gen-Bio Inovia Analysis Laboratory Opens First Phase
The first phase of the project is already underway with the opening of the Gen-Bio Inovia Analysis Laboratory in early July 2025. The laboratory, previously located on rue Copernicus, has successfully transitioned to its new premises within the health center.
Expanding Services Throughout 2025 and 2026
Further expansion is planned in the coming months. According to a statement from the city of Mende, “three dentists and three physiotherapists will settle in their respective poles from this fall,” with an additional doctor joining the team in January 2026. City officials are also actively engaged in “discussions to attract new practitioners to the territory” and explore additional opportunities to maximize the use of the new space.
Significant Public Investment
The project, launched two years ago, carries a total cost of €5,121,597. A substantial portion – nearly 60% – of the funding is being provided by the State, European Union, the Region, and the Regional Health Agency. The remaining 40%, financed through a loan secured by the city, will be repaid through rental income from the health professionals leasing space within the center. The city of Mende is managing the project through real estate lease contracts signed with each health professional.
The completion of this health center marks a significant milestone for Lozère, promising improved healthcare access and a strengthened medical community for years to come.
