Barack Obama Announces Live Events in London and Dublin This September

Former US President Barack Obama will embark on a speaking tour this fall, appearing for live, on-stage interviews in London and Dublin. The events, titled “An Evening with President Barack Obama,” promise insights into his time in office and his vision for the future of the United States.

Tour Dates and Venues

The former president, who first took office in 2009 as the nation’s first Black president, will first appear at London’s The O2 on Wednesday, September 24. He will be interviewed by acclaimed TV historian David Olusoga. Following the London event, Obama will travel to Dublin, Ireland, for an interview with journalist Fintan O’Toole at the 3Arena on Friday, September 26.

A Focus on Leadership and the Future

“An Evening with President Barack Obama” will center on the former president’s experiences during his time in the White House and his perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing the US. Organizers anticipate a conversation that will both inspire and empower attendees.

According to a joint statement from Stuart Galbraith, Chief Executive of Kilimanjaro, and Alex Fane, Chief Executive of Fane Group, the groups organizing the events, “We are incredibly honoured to bring President Obama to the UK and Ireland for these truly special events. His message of unity and progress resonates deeply, and we anticipate an evening that will inspire and empower all who attend.”

Ticket Information and Charitable Giving

Tickets for both events will go on sale at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 10. A portion of the tickets – 100 in each city – will be reserved for charitable organizations, demonstrating a commitment to community engagement.

Beyond the Presidency: A Continued Creative Output

Since leaving office, Obama has remained a prominent figure in the cultural landscape. He and his wife, Michelle Obama, have a production deal with Netflix through their company, Higher Ground Productions, focusing on documentaries, documentary series, and feature films. In 2022, he received a Best Narrator Emmy Award for his work on the Netflix documentary series Our Great National Parks.

His creative endeavors also extend to audiobooks and podcasts. Obama has previously won Grammy Awards for his readings of his memoirs, The Audacity of Hope and Dreams from My Father. In 2021, he co-hosted the podcast Renegades: Born in the USA with singer Bruce Springsteen, which was later adapted into a published book.
