John Callaghan, Beloved Burt Community Member, Passes Away
A cherished figure in the Burt community, John Callaghan, has died peacefully at his home in Moness, Burt, following a life deeply rooted in local commerce and family. He was formerly known for Callaghan’s Shop, a local establishment that served generations.
The passing of Mr. Callaghan has prompted an outpouring of grief from family, friends, and neighbors. He is remembered as a devoted husband to Teresa, and a loving father to his eight children: Annette, Paul, Mona, Shaun, Siobhan, Deirdre, Pearse, and Orla. He was also a dear brother to Leena Sherry and Lavina Cullen.
Mr. Callaghan’s legacy extends beyond his immediate family. He is survived by a large network of sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom deeply cherished his presence. His impact on the Burt area was significant, and he will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Viewing and Funeral Arrangements
Members of the public are invited to pay their respects at Mr. Callaghan’s home on Thursday, July 10th, beginning at 11:00 am.
A removal service will be held on Saturday, July 12th, commencing at 10:15 am, proceeding to St. Aengus’ Church, Burt for a Requiem Mass at 11:00 am. Following the Mass, interment will take place at Burt Cemetery.
For those unable to attend in person, the Requiem Mass will be live-streamed and can be viewed at www.churchservices.tv/burt.
The family has requested private time between 11:00 pm and 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
The community mourns the loss of a man who was, as one family member stated, “a gentle soul who touched the lives of so many.” His memory will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
