Christmas Day Tragedy Unfolds in Lille
The initial investigation centers around the death of a 34-year-old woman of Belgian nationality. Her body was discovered on Thursday, bearing numerous marks of blows, including facial injuries and broken teeth. A police source indicated that the scene revealed a clear context of violence, with evidence of blood, damage to the apartment, and a broken door.
The victim’s companion, a 36-year-old man of Algerian nationality and legal resident in France, was arrested at the scene and has been placed in pre-trial detention. He currently denies any responsibility for his partner’s death, according to the prosecution. However, investigators reported observing scratches on his body during the arrest.
The man claims he discovered his partner deceased upon waking after a night of heavy drinking, in the presence of a third individual. This third party, a 47-year-old friend of the victim’s companion who had been living with the couple for several weeks, has also been indicted – but for failure to assist a person in danger. He has been placed under judicial supervision.
