SURAKARTA, Indonesia, July 20, 2025 — India solidified its undefeated streak at the Badminton Asia Junior Mixed Team Championships 2025, clinching the top spot in Group D with a hard-fought 110-100 victory over Hong Kong China on Sunday.

India secured first place in their group after defeating Hong Kong China in a close contest.

India’s perfect record remained intact. The team sealed top honors in Group D. This happened after a tense 110-100 win against Hong Kong China in Surakarta, Indonesia. Both teams had already secured spots in the knockout stage before this final group match. India fielded a strong lineup, aiming to carry their winning momentum into the quarter-finals.

India’s Rujula Ramu gave the team a winning start, defeating IP Sum Yau 11-8. The world No. 6 junior boys doubles pair, Bhargav Ram Arigela and Viswa Tej Gobburu, extended India’s lead. They beat Cheung Sai Shing and Deng Chi Fai, making the score 22-13.

Hong Kong China’s Lam Ka To fought back, scoring 13 points. Rounak Chouhan eventually brought India’s tally to 33. With only six points separating the teams at 55-49 after five matches, India’s junior world No. 1 Tanvi Sharma stepped onto the court.

Sharma dominated Liu Hoi Kiu Anna in the second girls’ singles. This put India back in control with a 66-54 lead. Although the following four matches were closely contested, India maintained their advantage. They ensured their top position in the group.

India is now set to face Japan in the quarter-finals on Monday. Japan secured second place in Group A, trailing Thailand.

About the Badminton Asia Junior Mixed Team Championship

The Badminton Asia Junior Mixed Team Championships is an annual continental tournament. It features players competing across boys’ and girls’ singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events. The competition was first held in 2006. India has not yet won this prestigious championship.
