JAKARTA, Indonesia – Questions are swirling about whether President Joko Widodo, often called Jokowi, will join the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) as a member of its board of trustees. Kaesang Pangarep, who was just re-elected as PSI’s General Chairman, addressed the rumors, offering a somewhat indirect response.
When asked about Jokowi potentially becoming a board trustee, Kaesang stated that clarity would emerge once the party’s executive board and formation team are established.
“Everything will be clearer when the formation of the DPP with the formation team that helps me to form all structures,” Kaesang said. He made these remarks after the closing of the PSI I Congress in Solo on Sunday, July 20, 2025.
Earlier, Jokowi had attended the PSI Congress opening on Saturday, July 19, 2025. During his speech, he expressed his full support and commitment to working for PSI.
“Therefore I will be full supporting PSI. Therefore, I will work hard for PSI,” Jokowi told PSI cadres, who welcomed his statement enthusiastically.
