Woad Surges Ahead at Women’s Scottish Open

English golfer Lottie Woad leads the Women’s Scottish Open by two strokes after an impressive second round.

The 21-year-old outshone playing partner and world No. 1 Nelly Korda, who is now tied for second place alongside Denmark’s Nanna Koerstz Madsen.

Did you know? Lottie Woad, a former world No. 1 amateur, decided to turn professional last week after narrowly missing a playoff at the Evian Championship, a major women’s golf event.

Woad started her round at Dundonald Links on the 10th hole. She secured her first birdie after five holes, adding two more before an impressive stretch of four birdies in seven holes from the third.

This stellar play propelled her to 12 under par for the tournament, with only a single bogey across her 36 holes. The young Englishwoman also recently clinched the Irish Open earlier this month.

Elsewhere, Scotland’s Gemma Dryburgh bounced back from a disappointing opening 78 with a superb 67 to make the cut. England’s Georgia Hall is currently four under par for the championship.

Woad’s recent performance at the Evian Championship, where she finished just outside a playoff won by Grace Kim, highlights her emerging talent in the professional ranks.
