VARENNA, July 27, 2025 – This summer in Varenna, 31 children aged 5 to 14 participated in the Cres program, a six-week initiative run by the Sineresi cooperative. The program, held at the former Light Pirelli headquarters, focused on a “journey around the world” theme. This engaging concept allowed young attendees to explore diverse cultures, traditions, and curiosities from across the globe through play and creativity.
The primary goal of Cres is to support families while offering enriching experiences for youth. This year’s theme provided a stimulating framework for a variety of activities, including workshops on European coats of arms, African masks, mandalas, rank, totems, and dreamcatchers, alongside games and local excursions. The success of these outings was greatly supported by dedicated volunteers who generously shared their time and skills.

The municipal administration expressed gratitude to all contributors who made the experience memorable. Special thanks were given to Stefania Di Maria, a dance teacher who introduced the children to Hawaiian culture through Hula dance. Antonella Derflingher led engaging yoga sessions, while hiking guide Nadia Lillia accompanied participants on a local trail.
Nicola Castellano from the Castle of Vezio provided the venue for activities led by dog trainer Loris. Chef Marco Sala of Chef’s Table organized a special cooking class suitable for young participants. Fatima Koraichi offered a sensory workshop exploring Moroccan culture with spices, and Roberto Milani facilitated an exciting Floorball activity. Sara Lionetti and Elena Polandi guided the creation of totems and catches. The Pro Loco of Varenna also provided essential logistical support.

The core team of educators, Fabio Scabio, Mara Giacalone, and Daniele Ferreri, were highlighted as the “beating heart” of the project. Mayor Mauro Manzoni specifically thanked city councilor Marta Butta for her impeccable organization of the summer center. Butta’s synergy with the educators ensured that all activities ran smoothly, making Cres an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
